Design MTL’s co-creative workshop

Design Montreal's
co-creative workshop

Introduction

Six Cinquième is a Montreal-based branding and design agency. In partnership with Never Was Average, a community-based creative production company specialising in inclusive cultural production, we are launching a call for participation to co-create an audiovisual guide on design for and with Montreal’s Black, Indigenous and racialized communities. This guide will be integrated into the quality toolkit of the Bureau du design de la Ville de Montréal.

01

+ What to expect

We’re calling on the community and design professionals.

+ What to expect

Share your experience and perspective on the design sector and discuss the conscious or unconscious ways design influences your daily life, to enrich and contribute to the process of creating a guide that will have a significant impact and influence on the inclusivity of the design industry and practices in Montreal.

This project is a response to the Ville de Montréal’s call for proposals “Développer ensemble une plus forte culture du design – 2e édition” (Developing a stronger design culture together – 2nd edition), and has been made possible thanks to the financial support of the Québec government and the City as part of the Montreal Cultural Development Agreement.

Selected participants will receive an honorarium for their participation. The workshops will be bilingual, in French and English.

02

+ The intention

Our project aims to set a new standard for a design industry inclusive of Black, Indigenous and racialized communities through inclusive design practices.

+ The intention

These communities are not only present, but have always been an integral part of the design industry. Our project will highlight the vital importance of recognizing the value of our experiences, realities, contributions and perspectives within the industry to enrich its creative process.

Through brainstorming and discussion workshops with the Montreal community and professionals, we will first understand the gaps in inclusivity in the industry and in our practices. Then, we’ll find opportunities, recommendations and solutions to close these gaps, thanks to your contributions.
