THE CHALLENGE

Inouï is a social impact organization that uses music creation to foster the positive development and well-being of youth facing academic or psychosocial challenges. Their approach is distinguished by being grounded in research and utilizes a designed methodology where trained facilitators guide participants in writing and recording their own songs.

This process is intentionally structured to activate specific, evidence-based psychosocial mechanisms, such as socialization, self-exploration, and risk-taking to achieve therapeutic outcomes. The results are significant, showing increased self-esteem and a strong sense of accomplishment.

To mark their 10th anniversary, the organization changed their name from les Ateliers Speech to InouÏ, so we reimagined their brand identity and website to better reflect this change, as well as their expertise and credibility as an organization, while increasing its appeal to students, partners, and donors.

THE SOLUTION

Through our “In Perspectives” methodology, we immersed ourselves in the Inouï ecosystem.

We designed workshops with their team, alongside direct engagement with mentors, music producers they’ve partnered with, and, most importantly the youth in their programs. These engagements revealed a central tension that defines their success. Inouï’s approach is a powerful balance of raw, human authenticity and rigorous, evidence-based methodology. The new identity needed to feel both rebellious and creative for students, and credible and serious for institutional partners. It had to honour the beautiful imperfection of personal growth while showcasing the professional impact of their work.

THE SOLUTION

A Balanced Visual Language

We developed a dynamic visual system and website that mirror Inouï’s unique equilibrium, built around the core concept of É.C.L.A.T., their proprietary theory of change. 

The identity balances a youthful, bold energy with mature sophistication. We paired the noble, warm serif Instrument with a bold, modern sans-serif to create a typographic hierarchy that is both credible and sharp. 

THE SOLUTION

A Symbol of Transformation

At the heart of the identity is a custom spark or star icon, a direct visual metaphor for “É.C.L.A.T.” (Emotions, Creativity, “Liens” (Connection), Autodetermination, Transfer of knowledge). This organic, imperfect shape slightly overlaps the logotype, creating a sense of brilliance and an assertive, “taking your place” attitude. It symbolizes the personal transformation Inouï fosters.

THE SOLUTION

An Inclusive & Adaptive System Emphasizing their theory of change

A non-gendered palette of muted and pastel tones flexibly evokes either mature calm or lively energy. A suite of hand-drawn, abstract illustrations, representing facets of their methodology, injects humanity and lightness, ensuring the brand remains accessible and authentic to the youth it serves.

Finally, the identity includes a series of abstract illustrations representing the different aspects of É.C.L.A.T. We opted for symbolic forms that are open to interpretation, with a deliberately imperfect, hand-drawn style that adds a touch of playfulness, lightness, and humanity to the visual universe.

THE RESULT

A resonant and robust brand identity that truly reflects the people at the heart of Inouï.

It speaks the language of the teens, inviting them to show up as they are, while providing the professional credibility needed to engage partners and donors. This new system is not just a logo; it’s a visual embodiment of their mission, designed to fuel their next decade of impact and beyond.
